Insured & Qualified Trading since 2018
One team, three trades

A media wall is a joinery job, a plastering job and an electrical job, and in the right hands, all at once.

A well-built media wall looks like it grew out of the wall. That means clean cable management hidden in the structure, sockets and HDMI routing planned before the frame goes up, plasterboard set flush, and joinery detailed properly, not a plywood box with a gap at the top.

When one firm does all three trades in sequence, you get a wall that works from day one. When a carpenter builds the frame and then a separate electrician comes back three weeks later to chase in cables, something always gets cut back out.

Media wall types

What Kind of Media Wall Do You Need?

From a simple floating shelf to a full-height feature wall with integrated fireplace, we design and build the lot.

📺

Floating Shelf Media Wall

TV mounted flush to the wall with floating shelves either side or below, cables concealed within the structure, sockets positioned correctly, clean finish from day one.

🗄️

Full-Height Media Wall with Storage

Full-height feature wall with built-in shelving, cabinets and storage units either side of the TV, designed to the room and built in-house, not flat-pack dressed up.

🔥

Fireplace Integration

Existing fireplace incorporated into the media wall design, or a new electric or gas fire built in as a centrepiece, the TV and fire positioned to work together in the room.

🏗️

Built-In Alcove Media Unit

Media unit built into an existing chimney breast alcove, maximising the space that’s already there and fitting the room without a new partition wall.

Every element in-house

From the first stud to the last cable tidy.

A well-built media wall involves more trades and more planning than most people expect. Here’s everything we handle in-house.

  • Design & layout planning
  • Stud wall frame (if new partition required)
  • Electrical first fix (sockets, USB, HDMI cable routing)
  • Recessed TV mounting provision
  • Lighting: LED strip or spot
  • Plasterboard & drylining
  • Skim coat plaster finish
  • MDF panelling or joinery detail
  • Shelving & storage units
  • Painted finish
  • TV bracket installation
  • Final cable tidy & second fix electrics
Our process

How Your Media Wall Comes Together

Four clear stages. Frame, first fix, board, plaster, joinery, decoration, all in the right order.

01

Site Visit & Design

Gaz visits, takes measurements and discusses the layout: TV size, viewing height, storage requirements and any fireplace integration all discussed before anything is drawn up.

02

Written Quote

Full itemised quote with electrical and joinery elements separated so you can see exactly what you’re paying for in each trade.

03

Programme

Typically a 5–10 day project once the design is agreed and materials are ordered, with the start date confirmed and build sequence laid out before we begin.

04

Build & Finish

Frame, first fix, board, plaster, second fix, joinery, decoration. Gaz signs off on finish quality before handover. No gaps at the top, no surface-fixed cables.

Our Bespoke Media Walls Work

Where we work

Media Walls Across Chesterfield & Derbyshire

We’re based in Chesterfield and carry out media wall builds across the town, North Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. Most of our media wall projects are within 20 miles.

Chesterfield & Brampton

High demand in lounge-dining open-plan layouts. A media wall feature replaces redundant chimney breast space and gives the room a focal point without the visual clutter of a freestanding TV unit.

New-Build & Extension Properties

Media walls are common in newly opened spaces. We often build them as the final stage of an extension fit-out, where the new open-plan room benefits from a properly designed feature wall.

Dronfield & Eckington

Detached properties with large living rooms frequently specify media walls as part of a renovation. We see strong demand for full-height builds with integrated storage in this area.

Sheffield & Wider South Yorkshire

Strong demand in open-plan properties from around 2010 onwards. Media walls suit the large, open living spaces in newer Sheffield homes particularly well.

FAQ

Media Wall Questions Answered

The most common questions homeowners ask us before commissioning a bespoke media wall in Chesterfield and Derbyshire.

Varies a lot by size, how involved it is and materials. A straightforward wall-mounted TV with shelving might be £1,500–£3,000 fitted. A full-height built-in feature wall with joinery detail is more. We quote per job after seeing the space. There’s no meaningful ballpark until we’ve measured up and discussed the spec.
Yes. Either an existing fireplace is incorporated into the design, or we can discuss a new electric or gas fire as part of the build. Electric fires are wired in-house. Gas fires require a Gas Safe registered engineer, and we have one we work alongside on projects requiring gas work.
Yes. All HDMI, power and aerial cables are routed within the structure before the plasterboard goes on. Nothing is surface-fixed after the build is complete. That means no trunking on the wall and no cables visible from the sofa.
Typically 5–10 days from start to decorated finish, depending on size and how involved it is. A simple floating-shelf TV wall is at the shorter end; a full-height build with multiple storage units, LED lighting and a fireplace integration takes longer. We’ll give you a programme before we start.
Yes. We match painted profiles, panel styles and colours to existing skirting, doors and architraves in the room. The media wall should look like it belongs in the space, not like it came from a different house.
