The finish that lasts

Joinery is the last thing in and the first thing people notice.

Skirtings that don’t meet corners cleanly. Doors that don’t hang square. Staircases that creak two months after handover. These are the details that live with a homeowner for years after the big build is finished, and they’re the ones that separate a good job from an excellent one.

Gaz is a time-served tradesman. The joinery on every GSM project is done by people who take the finish personally. We match period profiles on Victorian properties, build bespoke shelving that fits the space properly, and hang doors that open and close without drama.

Joinery types

What Kind of Joinery Work Do You Need?

From a new staircase to a set of bespoke alcove shelves, we handle the lot.

πŸͺœ

Staircases (New & Replacement)

New staircases supplied and installed, including newel posts, handrails and spindles. Staircase replacements handled with minimum disruption to the floor above.

πŸšͺ

Internal Doors & Frames

Internal doors supplied, hung and fitted with linings, hung plumb and level so they open and close properly. We don’t rush door hanging; it’s one of the most visible tests of a joiner’s standard.

πŸ“

Skirting & Architrave

Skirting boards and architraves fitted to match existing profiles or a new specification: mitred corners, scribed to uneven walls and set consistently throughout a room or property.

πŸ—„οΈ

Bespoke Fitted Storage

Alcove shelving, fitted wardrobes and built-in storage units built to fit the exact dimensions of the space. Properly built, not flat-pack dressed up as built-in.

Our process

How Your Joinery Project Comes Together

Four clear stages. Finished to a standard we’d be happy to live with ourselves.

01

Site Visit

Gaz assesses the specific joinery requirement, discusses materials, profiles and finish, and checks the existing structure where a staircase or fitted storage is involved.

02

Written Quote

Materials and labour itemised clearly. Bespoke items such as staircases and alcove units are quoted separately from standard specification work so you know exactly what you’re paying for.

03

Programme

Joinery is often the final trade on a project. Start date is tied to when the preceding trades are complete so our joiners aren’t working around wet plaster or unfinished floors.

04

Installation & Finish

Our joiners work precisely. Gaz checks fit and finish before sign-off. Doors hang square, skirtings meet corners cleanly, shelves are level. That’s not optional; it’s the standard.

Real Projects. Real Customers.

Our Joinery & Carpentry Work

Where we work

Joinery & Carpentry Across Chesterfield & Derbyshire

We’re based in Chesterfield and carry out joinery and carpentry work across the town, North Derbyshire and South Yorkshire, both as part of larger renovation projects and as standalone joinery commissions.

Victorian Terraces: Chesterfield & Brampton

Original skirting profiles, door casings and period joinery worth matching correctly. We take time to source the right profiles and get the match right, rather than fitting a modern substitute that looks wrong in the room.

Loft Conversions Across Derbyshire

New staircases are a standard part of every loft conversion we build, designed to fit the available space and finished to the same standard as the rest of the conversion.

Extensions & Renovations

Skirting, architraves and internal doors across every project we run. Joinery is the final trade on a build and it’s what you see every day, so we don’t rush it.

Bespoke Joinery Requests

Standalone shelving, fitted storage and media wall carpentry. We take on bespoke joinery commissions where our schedule allows. Call Gaz to discuss your specific requirement.

FAQ

Joinery & Carpentry Questions Answered

The most common questions homeowners ask us before starting a joinery project in Chesterfield and Derbyshire.

Yes. We source matching profiles for skirting, architrave and door casings and take time to get the match right. It’s one of the things Gaz takes personally. A modern ogee fitted next to an original Victorian profile stands out badly, and we won’t do it.
Yes. Alcove shelving, fitted wardrobes and TV alcove units are a regular part of our work. Built to the exact dimensions of the space, not adapted from flat-pack. We discuss the design, materials and finish with you before anything is built.
In most cases yes. We work from below and carefully minimise disruption to the floor above. The staircase is removed in sections and the new one is installed without the need to lift the landing floor in most standard configurations.
We supply and fit. If you have a specific supplier or material in mind, let us know and we’ll work from your specification, but we’ll tell you honestly if we think a different material or approach will give a better result.
Depends on scope. A door and skirting for one room is a day’s work. A full staircase replacement is typically 2–3 days. Bespoke fitted storage is quoted per job after seeing the space. How involved it is, the size and the materials all affect the time involved.
